The Municipality of San Pascual, located on Burias Island, Masbate, continues to face challenges in accessing timely healthcare services. The lack of essential equipment, such as an X-ray machine, forces residents to travel to nearby areas like Camarines Sur or Naga City for basic diagnostics. These barriers highlight the urgent need for accessible, community-based health interventions.
In response, Culion Foundation, Inc. conducted a two-day Active Case Finding (ACF) initiative in the municipality, reaching a total of 415 individuals. Implemented in close coordination with the Rural Health Unit (RHU), the activity reflects the organization’s continued commitment to expanding access to TB services and ensuring that no one is left behind in the fight against TB.
As part of the initiative, a TB 101 information campaign was conducted to raise awareness about TB prevention, symptoms, and the importance of early detection. Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials were also distributed to community members to reinforce key health messages and promote health-seeking behavior.
This initiative was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Bicol Center for Health Development, Local Government Unit of San Pascual, the Rural Health Unit, Barangay Health Workers, and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) for demonstrating a unified commitment to strengthening TB awareness and improving access to essential TB services in underserved communities.
