From May 30 to June 1, 2026, Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) successfully conducted the ๐๐ถ๐ญ๐ต๐ช-๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ณ๐ฆ ๐๐ณ๐ข๐ช๐ฏ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ: ๐๐ต๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐จ๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ต๐ข๐ค๐ต ๐๐ฏ๐ท๐ฆ๐ด๐ต๐ช๐จ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐๐ณ๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ at the Coron Rural Health Unit, bringing together doctors, nurses, midwives, and barangay health workers from Coron, Culion, Busuanga, and Linapacan to strengthen tuberculosis (TB) prevention services in their communities.
On the first day, participants received an overview of the training, addressed common myths and misconceptions about TB, and participated in a hands-on session on the proper administration of the Tuberculin Skin Test (TST).
The second day focused on strengthening both community and clinical TB prevention. Doctors and nurses discussed key concerns on TB Preventive Treatment (TPT)โincluding its safety, effectiveness, and drug resistanceโbuilding greater confidence in initiating TPT. Municipal Health Officers, together with representatives from the DOH-CHD MIMAROPA and the Provincial Health Office of Palawan, also committed to setting monthly TPT enrollment targets. Participants were introduced to TB health education flipcharts, which were well received by both community health workers and clinicians, and took part in role-play exercises to strengthen their contact investigation skills.
On the final day, participants practiced proper TST reading, interpreted the results of the tests they had administered, completed a post-test, and received their Certificates of Completion.
Through continued collaboration with the Department of Health and local government partners, CFI remains committed to empowering health workers and strengthening TB prevention services across Palawanโbringing us one step closer to ending TB, one community at a time.
