As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) Trustees, Management, and staff, together with Rising Star Outreach, turned over 5,050 mangrove seedlings to the Local Government Unit of Culion, the Halsey Integrated Association for Development (HIAD), and the community of Sitio Pugon, Barangay Halsey, on June 8, 2026.
Held at the mangrove planting site in Sitio Pugon, the activity included a turnover ceremony and a hands-on demonstration of proper mangrove planting techniques. Members of the CFI Board of Trustees joined community members in planting seedlings, highlighting the shared responsibility of protecting and restoring coastal ecosystems.
The remaining seedlings were entrusted to the LGU of Culion, HIAD, and the Sitio Pugon community to support the continued restoration of the area’s mangrove forests. Like the mangroves planted that day, CFI’s commitment to communities and the environment continues to take root and flourishโgrowing stronger through partnership, stewardship, and shared action.
