CFI presented its mangrove reforestation project strategies and best practices during a recent strategic benchmarking activity organized in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources โ€“ Manila Bay Coordinating Office (DENR-MBCO).
As part of the activity, CFI facilitated a learning visit to the Balisungan Women-Managed Area Mangrove Nursery in Palawan, one of the Foundationโ€™s community-led conservation initiatives. The visit aimed to showcase sustainable and community-driven approaches to mangrove rehabilitation, highlighting the role of womenโ€™s groups in ecosystem restoration and stewardship.
The benchmarking initiative sought to explore practical and scalable models from Region IV-B that could inform and enhance the ongoing Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program. The DENR-MBCO expressed appreciation for the insights gained from the visit and expressed interest in potentially adapting key practices for use in the Manila Bay area.
CFI continues to advance its environmental advocacy by promoting inclusive, science-based, and community-centered solutions for coastal resource management.
