Culion Foundation Inc. (CFI) has been selected by the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Culion to be part of the Task Force Dugong, a collaborative effort focused on protecting and conserving the Dugong species in Culion.
The LGU of Culion has consistently recognized the Foundation’s dedication to environmental protection and conservation, often partnering with CFI on initiatives to safeguard the environment.
On May 27, the Task Force Dugong held its first meeting at the Tourism Office of Culion. The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from:
– Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO)
– Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS)
– Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC)
– Private sector
– Philippine Coast Guard
– Municipal Tourism Office
The meeting aimed to prepare initial activities for Dugong conservation, marking a significant step towards protecting this iconic species in Culion.
