Culion Foundation's TB active case finding initiative in the second quarter of 2022 exceeded all expectations by screening a total of 11,011 patients in the CALABARZON region. This significant increase in the number of patients screened compared to the first quarter showcases the effectiveness and dedication of the program's implementation. The foundation's commitment to reach more individuals in need of TB diagnosis and care has been evident in the impressive results achieved during this period.

Throughout the second quarter of 2022, the Culion Foundation remained steadfast in its commitment to prioritize vulnerable groups in the active case finding initiative. Senior citizens, who are more susceptible to TB infection due to age-related changes in their immune systems, continued to receive special attention in the screening process. By focusing on this high-risk group, the foundation aimed to ensure early detection and timely treatment for senior citizens, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for this demographic.

The initiative's proactive approach to detecting symptomatic TB cases remained a key focus in the second quarter. By urging individuals experiencing TB-related symptoms, such as persistent cough, unexplained weight loss, fever, and night sweats, to seek immediate medical attention, the foundation aimed to expedite diagnosis and treatment. This timely intervention not only helped control the spread of TB but also prevented further health deterioration among affected individuals.

The Culion Foundation's  TB active-case finding initiative in CALABARZON during the second quarter of 2022 stands as a testament to the organization's dedication to public health and the well-being of vulnerable communities. Surpassing screening targets, the foundation demonstrated its commitment to identifying TB cases promptly and providing timely care to those in need.  The collaboration with PBSP and DOH played a crucial role in this success, underscoring the significance of strategic partnerships in achieving positive and impactful public health outcomes. As the Culion Foundation's efforts continue, the region can look forward to a healthier and more resilient community in the fight against tuberculosis.
