In the face of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Culion Foundation and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) have achieved a remarkable feat in their TB-Active Case Finding (TB-ACF) program in the Bicol Region. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the initiative saw unprecedented growth, surpassing Q1 numbers by an impressive 150% in Q2 of 2022. With a total of 6,709 individuals screened in the provinces of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon, the program has exemplified the power of determination, compassion, and prioritization of high-risk groups.

Central to the program's success was the prioritization of high-risk groups, including seniors, people living with HIV (PLHIV), immunocompromised individuals, and smokers. Recognizing that these individuals faced a higher risk of contracting TB and experiencing severe illness, the Culion Foundation and PBSP focused their efforts on reaching these vulnerable populations.

Through community engagement and collaboration with local governments and grassroots organizations, the program successfully identified and screened individuals at risk, allowing for early detection and prompt intervention to prevent further transmission of the disease.

The TB-ACF program's impact in Q2 of 2022 surpassed all expectations, achieving a staggering 150% growth compared to Q1 numbers. A total of 6,709 individuals were screened across the provinces of Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon. This extraordinary progress demonstrated the effectiveness of the partnership between the Culion Foundation and PBSP and the unwavering commitment of all involved.

While the program has achieved remarkable growth and progress, the Culion Foundation and PBSP acknowledge that the battle against TB is far from over. They remain committed to their mission, resolute in their determination to continue reaching vulnerable communities, and working towards a TB-free Bicol Region and beyond.
