The Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI), in partnership with the Marikina City Health Office – National TB Control Program (NTP), actively supported the National Lung Month Celebration on August 24, 2025, through a special Car-Free Sunday event that promoted lung health, active lifestyles, and community wellness.
A section of Marikina’s roads was closed to vehicles to make way for joggers, runners, bikers, and zumba enthusiasts, transforming the city streets into a hub of fitness and fun.
Through CFI’s collaboration, residents gained access to free chest X-ray screenings for early TB detection. The Happy Pedal Project further encouraged cycling as a sustainable and health-friendly activity, while 350 Pilipinas emphasized the vital link between climate change, clean air, and respiratory health.
City officials highlighted that the event reflects Marikina’s strong commitment to advancing TB control, promoting healthier lungs, and fostering a more active and resilient community.
