From 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟴 𝘁𝗼 𝟯𝟬, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, healthcare workers from various municipalities in Albay gathered at Ninong’s Hotel in Legazpi City for a three-day 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗖𝗜-𝗧𝗣𝗧), 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗧𝗦𝗧) 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.
The capacity-building activity aimed to enhance healthcare workers’ knowledge and practical competencies in contact investigation, TB screening, tuberculosis preventive treatment, and tuberculin skin testing. Through interactive discussions, practical demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and guided learning sessions, participants reinforced essential TB prevention and care practices, particularly the early identification of individuals with presumptive TB, systematic evaluation of contacts, and identification of individuals eligible for preventive treatment. Special emphasis was placed on the proper administration, reading, and interpretation of TST to support accurate results and appropriate clinical decision-making.
Facilitated by Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI), in close collaboration with the Albay Provincial Health Office and participating local health units, the training provided an opportunity to enhance technical competencies and promote the effective delivery of TB prevention services at the community level. The sessions further emphasized the critical role of timely contact investigation and appropriate provision of preventive treatment in reducing the risk of progression from TB infection to active TB disease.
Through sustained capacity-building initiatives and strengthened local partnerships, CFI reaffirms its commitment to empowering frontline healthcare workers, expanding access to quality TB preventive services, and advancing collective efforts toward a TB-free Philippines.
