Residents of Pio V. Corpus, the northernmost municipality of Masbate, gained greater access to free tuberculosis (TB) screening services through a recent Active Case Finding (ACF) activity, where 200 Corpusanons received free TB screening and health services.
While waiting for their screening, participants joined a TB 101 health education session that increased awareness about tuberculosis, promoted healthy practices, and highlighted the importance of early detection and timely treatment. By combining screening with health education, the initiative helped empower community members to make informed decisions about their health.
The activity also marked five years of partnership between the Municipality of Pio V. Corpus and Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI). During a courtesy visit with Municipal Mayor Hon. Mark Antonio, both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding access to quality TB services and strengthening community-based TB prevention and care.
The initiative was made possible through the continued collaboration of the Department of Health Bicol Center for Health Development, the Local Government Unit of Pio V. Corpus, the Rural Health Unit of Pio V. Corpus, the PBSP ACCESS TB Project, and Culion Foundation, Inc.
Through strong local partnerships and sustained community engagement, more Filipinos can access timely TB screening, early treatment, and quality healthcare—bringing communities one step closer to a TB-free Philippines.
