Doctors, nurses, and midwives from participating local government units across Batangas strengthened their knowledge and practical skills in tuberculosis (TB) prevention during the Strengthening TB Prevention Services: Capacity Building of Healthcare Workers on Contact Investigation, TB Preventive Treatment (CI-TPT), and Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST) held from July 1–3, 2026, at Via Appia Hotel in Tagaytay City.
The three-day training equipped frontline healthcare workers with updated knowledge on TB infection testing, contact investigation, TB Preventive Treatment (TPT), and Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST) through interactive lectures, hands-on demonstrations, role-playing activities, and competency assessments. Participants also received the latest National Tuberculosis Program (NTP) updates and strengthened their skills in TB screening, proper TST administration and interpretation, and the accurate documentation of CI-TPT services.
The activity was made possible through the leadership and collaboration of the Department of Health Center for Health Development–CALABARZON, the Batangas Provincial Health Office, participating Local Government Units, and Rural Health Units. Working alongside these partners, Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) facilitated and supported the implementation of the training to help strengthen local capacity for TB prevention and contact investigation.
By investing in the capacity of frontline healthcare workers, this collaborative effort helps ensure that more individuals at risk of TB receive timely screening, preventive treatment, and quality care—bringing Batangas one step closer to a TB-free Philippines.
