As part of the Culion Foundation, Inc.’s Golden Anniversary celebration, the CFI team journeyed to Sitio Calatan, Barangay Carabao, Culion, Palawan, on May 30, 2026, to extend support to the community through the distribution of solar lights, food packs, and school supplies.
Reaching the remote sitio required determination and perseverance. The journey involved traveling by boat and navigating long stretches on foot, reflecting the same challenges that community members regularly face in accessing essential services and opportunities. Despite the demanding trip, the CFI team carried out the activity with enthusiasm, driven by a shared commitment to serve with compassion and care.
The community warmly welcomed the team, creating an atmosphere of gratitude, connection, and mutual learning. More than a distribution activity, the visit became an opportunity to listen and engage. Residents shared stories of their daily realities, challenges, hopes, and aspirations, offering valuable insights into the needs and strengths of the community.
Through this meaningful encounter, CFI deepened its understanding of the lived experiences of the people it serves, reaffirming its commitment to go beyond providing assistance by fostering genuine presence, compassion, and sustained support for communities in need. As CFI celebrates 50 years of service, initiatives such as this reflect its continuing mission to reach even the most remote communities, bringing not only aid, but also hope, solidarity, and a lasting commitment to create greater impact.
