As an island province, Catanduanes continues to face challenges in accessing timely and adequate public health services. Despite these constraints, many residents rely heavily on local health systems, making early detection of tuberculosis (TB) a critical priority in safeguarding community health.
Culion Foundation, Inc. implemented an Active Case Finding (ACF) initiative across the province, screening 2,288 individuals. The activity was strongly supported by Rural Health Units (RHUs), reflecting high community engagement and local commitment to TB response.
A key highlight of the activity was Culion Foundation, Inc.’s hosting of its World TB Day celebration in the Municipality of Viga—marking the organization’s first CFI-led World TB Day event in Catanduanes. This milestone underscored the growing partnership and shared commitment to advancing TB awareness and response efforts in the province.
This initiative was made possible through the collaboration with the Provincial Government and Provincial Health Office of Catanduanes, participating Local Government Units and RHUs, the Bicol Center for Health Development, and Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP).
