On November 3, 2025, the Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) facilitated a Youth IEC and Advocacy Campaign Orientation on Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Conservation through a Day Camp attended by 30 students from Palawan State University (PSU) – Coron Campus in Coron, Palawan.
The DENR CENRO Green Economy Model (GEM) Project staff served as resource speakers, discussing the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems of Coron, while the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) highlighted the importance of environmental and biodiversity conservation. Former Coron Eco Warriors and now PSU–Coron faculty members Charla Pe, Eliazar Gomez, Lyn Mariel Rulona, and Ma. Stephanie Bajen also led sessions on youth advocacy, sharing how their experiences as Eco Warriors shaped their personal and professional growth.
An action planning activity capped the orientation, preparing students for their upcoming immersion at Balisungan Mangrove Nursery and Siete Pecados Marine Park on November 7, 2025, and subsequent IEC campaigns in schools. Through these efforts, CFI continues to nurture young advocates dedicated to protecting Palawan’s rich coastal and marine biodiversity.
