CFI Convenes Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on Coastal Resource Management in Coron, Palawan

CFI brought together government agencies and local leaders for a critical consultation on marine resource management on October 16, 2025, at Darayonan Lodge, Coron, Palawan.
The meeting, facilitated by Mr. Mark Anthony Jabines, CFI Senior Project Officer, and Ms. Dolina Tabla, CFI Palawan Coordinator, focused on proposed updates and amendments to the Municipal Fisheries Ordinance (MFO), the Integrated Coastal and Fisheries Resource Management Plan, and MPA resolutions, key policy instruments for protecting the municipality’s coastal ecosystems.
The consultation gathered representatives from the Sangguniang Bayan of Coron, Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), Municipal Fisheries and Resource Management Council (MFRMC), MPA Coron Network, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Barangay Captain Turda of Decabobo, and barangay officials from Bintuan, Marcilla, Tagumpay, and Siete Pecados Marine Protected Area.
The initiative is implemented under the “Integrated Coastal and Marine Management Towards Ecosystem and Community Resilience” project, part of the 7th Operational Phase of the GEF Small Grants Programme in the Philippines, executed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the Foundation for the Philippine Environment (FPE).
