On June 9, 2026โthe exact 50th anniversary of Culion Foundation, Inc.โthe people of Culion joined CFI in celebrating five decades of service, partnership, and community. The day began with a Thanksgiving Mass at La Inmaculada Concepcion Church, followed by a floral offering at the tomb of Fr. Javier Olazabal, one of CFI's three founders, in tribute to his enduring legacy of faith and service. A parade then led participants to the Bayanihan Covered Court for the anniversary program.
More than 400 participants attended the celebration, including representatives from partner institutions, peoples organizations, athletes of the Don Jose Soriano Sr. Golden Cup, and participants in the quiz bee and poster-making competitions. During the program, CFI recognized the winners of the anniversary competitions, presented Service Awards to its Palawan-based staff in recognition of their dedicated service, and honored its partners in Culion with Partnership Plaques in appreciation of their invaluable collaboration through the years.
More than marking a milestone, the celebration reflected the shared journey of CFI and the Culion community over the past five decades. It honored the founders who laid the Foundation's roots, the staff whose dedication continues to advance its mission, the partners who have walked alongside CFI, and the community that remains at the heart of its work. Together, they celebrated not only CFI's golden anniversary but also a legacy of service built through faith, partnership, and a shared commitment to improving lives.
