The women did not come with titles. They came with stories.
On March 17, 2026, partners, community health workers, and local leaders gathered at Ciudad Christhia Resort in San Mateo, Rizal, to mark a significant milestone in the ongoing work to end tuberculosis in Rodriguez, Rizal, and to recognize the role of community navigators, many of whom are women, in the fight against TB.

As the saying goes, women hold up half the sky, and in this program, that has never been more visible.
The "Ang Kwentong Oplan Manunuyod: A Community Powered Action to End TB" event was held in commemoration of World TB Day and National Women's Month. It brought together the people and organizations behind the Oplan Manunuyod Project to reflect on progress, share experiences from the ground, and strengthen the community-based approaches that have been central to the program's reach.

Much of the day's discussion centered on the role of women leaders in connecting TB services to the people who need them. Their work, such as house-to-house contact investigation, supporting patients through treatment, and building trust at the community level, has been one of the program's most consistent drivers of results.

The event was made possible through the participation of key partners:

◦ Department of Health – National TB Control Program
◦ Local Government Unit of Rodriguez, Rizal
◦ Rodriguez Municipal Health Office
◦ Montalban Laban Lungs Philippines, Inc.
◦ Philippine Business for Social Progress
◦ Children International Philippines
◦ NTP Coordinators from LGUs across the country

We thank each of these partners for their continued commitment to making TB services accessible and patient-centered.
