Advancing TB Prevention in National Capital Region
𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗕 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻

From 𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟮–𝟭𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, frontline healthcare workers from Local Government Units (LGUs) across the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗡𝗖𝗥) convened at 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀, 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, for the 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗕 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗧𝗕 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗖𝗜-𝗧𝗣𝗧), 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗧𝗦𝗧).

The capacity-building activity enhanced the knowledge and competencies of doctors, nurses, and midwives in delivering quality TB prevention services. Through lectures, video presentations, actual demonstrations and return demonstrations, case discussions, and hands-on exercises, participants strengthened their skills in contact investigation, TB infection prevention and control, Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST), and the implementation of TB Preventive Treatment (TPT). The training was guided by the DOH National Tuberculosis Control Program (NTP) guidelines and best practices in screening, documentation, and service delivery.

The activity was implemented through the collaboration of the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 – 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗹𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗗𝗢𝗛–𝗠𝗠𝗖𝗛𝗗), 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗡𝗖𝗥, and 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜𝗻𝗰., providing technical and implementation support to strengthen local capacity for TB prevention and contact investigation.

By empowering healthcare workers with updated knowledge and practical skills, this initiative reinforces the collective commitment to expanding access to quality TB preventive services and bringing the country closer to the goal of a TB-free Philippines.
