After the successful Contact Investigation and TB Preventive Treatment (CI-TPT) Training in Coron, Palawan last May 30-June 1, the Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI)’s training team returned to Tacloban City, Leyte, to facilitate the third batch of the four-day training, Advancing TB Elimination: A Practical Training on TB Infection, Contact Investigation, and TB Preventive Treatment for Healthcare Workers, held at Hotel Alejandro. The training aims to strengthen the capacity of healthcare workers in advancing TB prevention, early detection, and care.
The first day focused on training preliminaries, discussions on TB infection screening methods—Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST) and Interferon-Gamma Release Assays (IGRA)—and hands-on TST administration. The training is facilitated by CFI’s Marie Joy M. Sebastian, TB Technical Coordinator; Elly Rose S. Amurao, Project Manager–FVF; and Dr. Maria Julieta Recidoro, Senior Health Program Manager.
