Introduction: Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) made significant strides in tuberculosis (TB) detection by organizing a transformative 3-day TB Active Case Finding (ACF) activity in collaboration with three Rural Health Units (RHU), barangay officials, and the Municipal Government of Tanay in Rizal Province. Held on June 21-23, 2023, this community-driven initiative aimed to screen and treat the missing TB cases, aligning with the Philippine Strategic TB Elimination Plan (PhilStep) of the Department of Health (DOH).

Reaching Out to Vulnerable Communities: Through the collective efforts of CFI and its esteemed partners, over 500 patients in Barangays Plaza Aldea, Sta. Ines, and Sampaloc underwent free chest X-rays, a crucial step in detecting potential TB cases. Additionally, 65 sputum samples were collected for GeneXpert testing, ensuring early and accurate diagnosis for those in need. Recognizing the importance of comprehensive care, CFI provided food packs, used clothing, and vital medicines to support the well-being of the community.

A Stepping Stone Towards TB Elimination: This ACF activity served as a pivotal component in the broader mission to eliminate TB in the country. By adhering to the guidelines outlined by the DOH's PhilStep, CFI exemplified its commitment to improving public health and reducing the burden of TB. The partnership with local health authorities, nurses, RHU-Tanay staff, and barangay health workers of Tanay, Rizal, played a crucial role in making this initiative a resounding success.

Conclusion: Culion Foundation, Inc.'s 3-day TB Active Case Finding in Tanay demonstrated the power of community collaboration in addressing public health challenges. By screening over 500 patients, collecting sputum samples, and providing much-needed support to vulnerable communities, this initiative embodies CFI's vision of a healthier and more resilient Philippines. As we move forward, the collective efforts of dedicated organizations and local stakeholders will undoubtedly pave the way towards a TB-free nation.
