From 2021-2026, ACF Bicol made a significant impact—screening 128,644 high-risk individuals for TB, initiating treatment for 6,877 patients, and providing TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) to 680 individuals. These milestones reflect a sustained commitment to early detection, timely treatment, and prevention.
Building on these efforts, on March 23, 2026, in commemoration of World TB Day, the Municipality of Viga, Catanduanes, joined us in uniting communities in the shared mission to end tuberculosis. Led by Culion Foundation, Inc. in partnership with Philippine Business for Social Progress, the Local Government Unit, the Rural Health Unit, Barangay Health Workers of Viga, Cataduanes, the event transformed the Municipal Covered Court into a space of action, awareness, and hope.
From an energizing Zumba session with Barangay Health Workers, healthcare professionals, and community members, to an engaging TB Trivia Game and free chest X-rays for 328 individuals through the Active Case Finding Project, the activity highlighted the power of collective action. HIV screening was also conducted, reinforcing the importance of integrated health services at the community level.
Local leaders, including Municipal Health Officer Dr. Elmer O. Uchi and Mayor Hon. Jennifer M. Tuplano, underscored the vital role of community participation and strong local governance in the fight against TB.
Together, we move closer to a future where no one is left behind in the fight against TB.
