Congratulations to CFI Marine Protected Areas (MPA) in Coron and the Calamianes Islands Group Siete Pecados Marine Park, Balisungan Marine Protected Area (MPA), and Calamianes Islands Group MPA Network CMN for winning major awards during the 9th Para El Mar MPA Awards and Recognition 2023 held in Bai Hotel, Mandaue, Cebu, organized by MPA Support Network (MSN).
Siete Pecados Marine Park received “Best Locally Managed Marine Protected Area”, “Best in Enforcement” and “Savior of the Sea” awards while the women-managed Balisungan MPA placed third (3rd) for “Best in Mangrove.” The Calamianes Islands Group MPA Network (CMN) bagged the 1st Runner-Up award for “Best in Marine Protected Area Network.”
These 3 MPAs and communities are CFI’s partners in the implementation of the USAID-Fish Right Program and the GCash (GForest) Mangrove Rehabilitation Project.
