In the face of unprecedented challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Culion Foundation and the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) joined hands in a historic partnership to combat tuberculosis (TB). Launched in January 2021, their TB-Active case finding program targeted the Bicol Region and MIMAROPA, prioritizing vulnerable groups to curb the spread of the disease. Despite the pandemic's persistent grip, the initiative has already screened 1,791 individuals, propelling the partners to expand their efforts to the National Capital Region (NCR) and CALABARZON. This story serves as a beacon of hope, illustrating the power of determination, compassion, and cooperation to address critical health issues during challenging times.

The Culion Foundation, renowned for its unwavering commitment to eradicating TB, and PBSP, a leading advocate for corporate social responsibility, found common ground in their shared vision to improve public health and uplift marginalized communities. Together, they embarked on a groundbreaking partnership that would harness their collective expertise, resources, and networks to tackle the long-standing scourge of TB in the Philippines.

As the world grappled with the COVID-19 pandemic, public health systems were strained, and resources were redirected to combat the virus. However, the Culion Foundation and PBSP saw an opportunity to address the pressing issue of TB amidst the crisis. Recognizing that vulnerable groups were at a heightened risk for both diseases, the partners decided to forge ahead, adapting their strategies and protocols to ensure the safety of all involved.

The first partnership of the Culion Foundation and PBSP for TB-Active case finding in the Bicol Region and MIMAROPA, despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, has been a resounding success. As they forge ahead to NCR and CALABARZON, their unwavering commitment reaffirms the power of unity and collaboration in making a positive impact on public health in the Philippines. The story of this partnership reminds us all that even in the darkest of times, human ingenuity and empathy can illuminate the path to a healthier and more equitable future.
