From July 15–17, 2026, Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) successfully conducted the Strengthening TB Prevention Services: Capacity Building of Healthcare Workers on Contact Investigation, TB Preventive Treatment (CI-TPT), and Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST) at Via Appia Hotel in Tagaytay City. The three-day training brought together doctors, nurses, and midwives from participating local government units across Cavite, reinforcing a shared commitment to strengthening tuberculosis (TB) prevention and expanding access to quality TB services.
Through interactive lectures, hands-on demonstrations, role-playing activities, and competency assessments, participants strengthened their knowledge and practical skills in TB infection testing, contact investigation, Tuberculin Skin Testing (TST), and TB Preventive Treatment (TPT). The training also provided updates on the National Tuberculosis Program and reinforced the proper application of TB prevention strategies in community and primary healthcare settings.
By equipping frontline healthcare workers with updated knowledge and practical tools, the training strengthens local capacity to identify TB infection early, prevent the progression of disease, and deliver more responsive, patient-centered care. Empowered healthcare workers are essential to ensuring that individuals at risk receive timely screening, preventive treatment, and appropriate follow-up within their communities.
Conducted in partnership with the DOH Center for Health Development–CALABARZON, the Cavite Provincial Health Office, and participating Local Government Units and Rural Health Units, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to building stronger local health systems and advancing collective efforts toward a TB-free Philippines.
