Growing Stronger Together: Culion’s People’s Organizations Take Bold Steps Forward

Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) once again brought together its six organized local Peoples Organizations (POs): Canimang Association for Fisherfolk and Farmers (CAFF); Coring Eco-Warriors Association (CoWA); Baldat Fishermen and Farmers Association (BaFFA); Halsey Integrated Association for Development (HIAD); Nurutan y’ang mga Tagbanuang Manigyan y’ang Sitio Berg (NTMSB); and Ugnisan Fisherfolk and Farmers Association, for an inspiring General Assembly held on July 28, 2025, in Culion, Palawan. The event marked another milestone in CFI’s continuing efforts to strengthen grassroots leadership, following last year’s series of training programs and livelihood support initiatives for these partner community-based organizations.
The assembly served as a platform for reflection, collaboration, and planning. Participants engaged in a series of learning sessions, including organizational self-assessments and core group planning. These sessions allowed the POs to revisit their purpose, assess internal systems, and identify concrete steps to enhance their operations. Facilitators guided each organization through thoughtful discussions on governance, accountability, and sustainability.
As the assembly concluded, leaders left with a renewed sense of purpose and a clearer path forward. With strong partnerships and the support of CFI, the Peoples Organizations of Culion are shaping themselves into more resilient, responsive, and community-driven institutions—ready to lead change from the ground up.
