The CFI TB ACF SHIELD team traveled to the island barangays of Carlagan, Calutcot, and Palasan in Burdeos, Quezon, to bring essential TB screening services closer to communities facing geographic barriers to healthcare.
These island communities require hours of boat travel from the main island, making access to health services a daily challenge. Despite these obstacles, the team successfully screened 472 residents and identified 55 presumptive TB patients who were referred for further evaluation and care.
The Burdeos Rural Health Unit (RHU) facilitated patient registration to ensure residents can continue accessing free health services. Dr. Irina Delos Santos, Municipal Health Officer, also conducted medical consultations and provided medicines to participants during the activity.
This initiative was made possible through the strong collaboration of the Department of Health โ Center for Health Development CALABARZON, Quezon Provincial Health Office, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), Burdeos RHU, and the Local Government of Burdeos.
