Residents of Tagkawayan, Quezon gained greater access to free tuberculosis (TB) screening services through a two-day Active Case Finding (ACF) activity conducted on July 8–9, 2026, bringing early detection and preventive care closer to the community.
A total of 375 individuals were screened during the activity, highlighting the importance of active case finding in identifying TB early, facilitating timely treatment, and helping prevent further transmission. Every person screened represents another opportunity to protect families, improve health outcomes, and move the community one step closer to ending TB.
The initiative was made possible through the leadership and collaboration of the Department of Health Center for Health Development, the Quezon Provincial Health Office, the Tagkawayan Local Government Unit, the Tagkawayan Rural Health Unit, and the PBSP ACCESS TB Project. Working alongside these partners, Culion Foundation, Inc. (CFI) supported the implementation of the activity through its TB ACF SHIELD Project, contributing technical and operational assistance to expand access to quality TB screening services.
Together, these collective efforts continue to strengthen community-based TB prevention and care, ensuring that more Filipinos receive timely screening, appropriate treatment, and the opportunity to live healthier lives.
